Excursion “ The life tree” Educational- Experimental Laboratory THE EDUCATIONAL- SENSORIAL ROUTE, STARTING FROM THE ART GALLERY OF GIBELLINA CIVICAL MUSEUM, IT WILL BRING TO LIFE AGAIN TO THE VISITORS THE ARTISTS EXHIBITORS’ EMOTIONS THROUGH THE FIVE SENSES: THE SIGHT, THE TASTE, THE TOUCH, THE SMELL AND THE HEARING We should try to learn how to see- to hear- to smell- to taste- and to touch the art in a touchable way through the sensorial channels which take to comprehend it in its inner nature, conveying emotions. DESCRIPTION The life tree is an educational-sensorial route, which aims to propose the pictorial or sculptural art work in a new way, getting over the traditional concept. The project take place on the art gallery of Gibellina Nuova, a charming town situated in the inland western part of Sicily , town which was recently rebuilt when in 1968 a terrible earthquake destroyed the old Gibellina. The idea of the educational –sensorial route comes from the belief that one of the reasons , why the majority of people doesn’t have a good approach towards the art is because of the way which it’s proposed. In fact when it studies an art work usually one’s attention goes to the historical period, the technique, the author and his life, concepts surely important but which take away the art work from its real meaning. The art work comes from the artist emotion, who wants to transmit emotions to others. The educational- sensorial route, transforms the rooms where the art work is exhibits in sensorial laboratories instead (THE SIGHT, THE TASTE, THE TOUCH, THE SMELL AND THE HEARING) without been in conflict with the museum or the art gallery activities, but exploiting to the utmost each of those senses, drawing emotions from it .To be more clear let’s make an example: after making a presentation between the group and the guide, it is asked to the group ( maximum 25 people) to stand in a circle, and from there the first laboratory starts, ( THE TOUCH one). The members of the group are invited, one by one, to experiment articles made of different shape and volume which are inside a box. Next step is to invite the guests to check the art works in room, and to express the softness or the roughness of the same ones, stimulating a dialog between the group. This technique increases the attention level , it becomes an active protagonist, it stimulates a dialog, and each one gives his emotional sensations . Each laboratory is different from the other. The sixth laboratory is the experimental one, where the route ends and where it will be given to the guests a big sheet of paper and different colours ( pencils, crayons, pastels, oil-colours), and every one can freely express their emotions and compose their own art work. This project is addressed to the children, starting from the elementary, primary and secondary schools, the universities, cultural and sporting associations, disables associations, nursing homes, touristic and village guests, psycho- pedagogical centres, and holidays cam pings. So far the educational route is been presented both in Italian, German, English, Spanish, Russian and French language. Hopefully this short presentation will stimulate the curiosity to experience the project, sure that it will give an enjoyment and the possibility of living the art in its inner essence.
